In the fall of 2020, amidst the uncertainty and challenges of a global pandemic, Denise Karlen envisioned a way to make a meaningful difference. Inspired by the heroic efforts of first responders and the unwavering spirit of communities in need, Denise organized a small golf outing at the beautiful Palmetto-Pine Country Club. What began as a simple Turkey Shoot golf event to raise funds for the Tunnels to Towers Foundation has quickly blossomed into something extraordinary.

The first event was a heartfelt gathering of friends and neighbors, united by a common purpose: to support those who risk their lives for others. The generous spirit of the participants ignited a spark in other members of the Country Club. Together, they realized that this annual event could grow into something much larger, making a profound impact on the lives of veterans, first responders, and their families.

Over the next four years, Promise For Heroes was created as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and grew from its humble beginnings into a highly anticipated annual event. With over $360,000 raised and given to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the organization has provided critical support to those in need, especially in the wake of the devastating hurricanes that have struck Southern Florida in the last few years. From housing assistance to emergency relief, every dollar raised has been a beacon of hope for countless families.

As Promise For Heroes approaches its fifth annual event on November 16th, 2024, the spirit of giving and community remains stronger than ever. What started as a small gesture of goodwill has evolved into a powerful force for change, demonstrating the incredible impact that one person’s vision can have when fueled by collective generosity. Today, along with continued support from Denise Karlen, Promise For Heroes is led by board members Mark McCulley, Denise Perillo, and Tony Perillo.

Since our inception in 2020, we’ve dedicated ourselves to supporting the heroes among us—recognizing and celebrating the courage of veterans, first responders, and their families. Our vision is to provide essential support and assistance to those who have sacrificed for others with appreciation and gratitude in all our actions.
